Woman Arrested in Tangier for Impersonating Official, Defrauding Merchants

The Tangier police arrested a woman who was posing as a local authority. Aided by her accomplice who wore the uniform of the auxiliary forces, she was defrauding merchants.
According to the daily Al Akhbar, the two scammers were particularly targeting merchants who occupy the public domain anarchically and without authorization. It is in this way that the images recovered from the surveillance cameras allowed them to identify and locate the suspect.
Arrested and placed in custody, she was brought before the public prosecutor’s office and prosecuted for fraud and usurpation of a function governed by law before being placed in pre-trial detention in the local prison. The investigation is still ongoing in order to identify the other people involved in this fraud network.
In addition, the accomplice who was posing as an auxiliary forces agent is actively being sought. He will have to provide the identity of the tailor who made the auxiliary forces uniforms for him, in violation of the law.
