Moroccan and Paraguayans Arrested in Extortion Gang Bust

A Moroccan and two Paraguayans were arrested this week in the city of Mariano Roque Alonso. They are accused of aggravated extortion, aggravated violence and criminal association.
The prosecutor of the Specialized Unit for the Fight against Terrorism, Joel Cazal, decided on Friday to detain the two Paraguayans, Angel Benitez Olazar and Gladis Benitez Olazar, suspected of committing acts of aggravated extortion, aggravated violence, criminal association and violation of law 4036/10. They are also accused of attempted voluntary manslaughter, reports La Nacion.
The Moroccan, Younes Ahaddadi, was also arrested and detained for the same acts of aggravated extortion, aggravated violence, criminal association, violation of law 4036/10 and domestic violence. "This last charge has been added since the complainant apparently had a romantic relationship with the suspect and had provided evidence of alleged ill-treatment," said prosecutor Cazal.

The Benitez Olazar brothers are being prosecuted for attempted voluntary manslaughter because they had fired a firearm at police officers during their arrest. Two mobile phones, a USB key, computers, a pistol charger, a shotgun with 10 cartridges and several documents were seized during the search conducted at their home.
"It was a more than successful procedure because we were able to arrest a gang specialized in extortion. We advise citizens to report extortion to the police who will take care of referring the matter to the public prosecutor’s office so that the perpetrators of this type of act are punished," the prosecutor advised.
