Moroccan airports security upgrade 2026 surveillance systems

The security of Moroccan airports is entering a new phase. According to the provisional market program for 2026, several projects directly address surveillance, physical safety and the protection of airport infrastructure. The effort concerns not only Casablanca’s Mohammed V airport, although it remains central to the system. It also affects several regional platforms, in a context where Moroccan airports are expected to handle more traffic and meet higher security requirements.

In Casablanca, ONDA plans notably the upgrade of the video surveillance system at Mohammed V airport. The program also mentions work to secure various sites, the construction of a perimeter fence, as well as improvements related to security facilities. Added to this are several projects concerning the Royal Gendarmerie on the Casablanca platform, including dedicated buildings and premises.

Cameras, access control and perimeter security

The reinforcement is not limited to Casablanca. The program provides for the installation or strengthening of video surveillance and perimeter security systems at several airports, notably in Beni Mellal, Ouarzazate, Tan-Tan, Errachidia, Essaouira, Agadir, Fès, Marrakech and Tangier. The objective is clear: better monitor the surroundings, secure sensitive areas and modernize existing systems.

Some projects also target more specific equipment. ONDA plans the acquisition of perimeter surveillance equipment for various airports, as well as vehicles equipped for movement area control. These zones, located on the airside, are among the most sensitive on an airport platform, as they concentrate aircraft, ground operations and technical movements.

Digital security also appears in the program. ONDA plans an upgrade of physical security systems for DNSSI compliance at several airports, including Rabat-Salé, Agadir-Al Massira, Nador-El Aroui, Marrakech-Menara, Dakhla, Tangier-Ibn Batouta, Oujda-Angads, Fès-Saïss, Laâyoune-Hassan Ier, Guelmim, Al Hoceima-Chérif El Idrissi and Tétouan-Saniat R’mel. The document also mentions a DNSSI compliance program, as well as maintenance of security platforms and Wi-Fi networks.

Air navigation is also involved. For Casablanca’s ACC and its remote sites, the program provides for the supply, installation and commissioning of an integrated security system incorporating video surveillance, access control and anti-intrusion. A comparable system is planned for Agadir’s ACC, with a redesign and upgrade of security systems.

These projects outline a discreet but important evolution: Moroccan airports are not only under construction to welcome more passengers or modernize their terminals. They are also strengthening their security background, from cameras to fences, from controlled access to computer systems. A transformation less visible to the traveler, but essential to support the rise of air transport in Morocco.
