Morocco Upgrades 5 Airports with Biometric Gates for Faster, Secure Travel

Morocco continues to modernize its airports. Five airports in the kingdom - Tangier, Fez, Agadir, Oujda and Nador - will soon be equipped with an automated boarding pass control system.
This system, developed by the company SITA BV, will allow travelers to access the transit area through automatic gates, after a biometric identity verification.
This project, estimated at 65 million dirhams, is part of the National Airports Office (ONDA)’s desire to streamline passenger flow and strengthen border security. The electronic gates, already used in many international airports, offer a fast and reliable alternative to the manual control of travel documents.
ONDA had already laid the foundations for this modernization by installing the first electronic gates in the VIP lounge of Marrakech-Menara airport in 2018, a first in Africa, as part of a partnership with the Kuwaiti national air services company.
