Morocco’s Airport Revolution: $4.4 Billion Boost for Marrakech and Agadir Hubs

The companies Jet Contractors and SGTM, two giants of the construction industry in Morocco, have just won the contracts for the modernization of the Marrakech Ménara and Agadir Al Massira airports, respectively, for a total value of more than 4.4 billion dirhams.
The National Airports Office (ONDA) has just awarded these two major contracts to the two Moroccan companies, indicating the daily Les Inspirations Eco, recalling that these projects are part of ONDA’s ambitious strategy to triple the capacity of the kingdom’s airports by 2030, from 34 million currently to nearly 80 million passengers.
Jet Contractors and SGTM won these contracts after a tendering process in which major competitors participated. For the modernization of Agadir airport, four bidders were in the running, but only SGTM and the TGCC-Inter Tridim group passed the technical evaluation stage. SGTM was selected for its more competitive offer, estimated at 2.231 billion dirhams including tax.
For the Marrakech airport, four bidders were also in the running. At the end of the process, Jet Contractors won the contract with an offer evaluated at 2.204 billion dirhams including tax, lower than that of its competitors.
ONDA plans to invest 38 billion dirhams to modernize Moroccan airports by 2030. The program plans, in addition to the modernization of the Marrakech and Agadir airports, the construction of a new international airport in Casablanca, as well as the expansion of regional platforms. This, in order to support the tourism and economic dynamics of the kingdom.
