Moroccan Agriculture Minister Akhannouch to Run for Mayor of Agadir

Aziz Akhannouch, the Minister of Agriculture, who is also the president of the National Rally of Independents (RNI), will run in the upcoming municipal elections in Agadir, the capital of the Souss-Massa region.
Aziz Akhannouch, the president of the RNI, officially announced his candidacy for the presidency of Agadir, a city considered his stronghold. This announcement was made on his party’s Facebook page last Monday. By choosing to run in the municipal elections, the native of Souss intends to give new momentum to the RNI before the double electoral appointment on September 8. This should allow the party to achieve, he hopes, good results.
President of the Souss-Massa-Draâ regional council from 2003 to 2009, Aziz Akhannouch has all the necessary assets to take up the challenge. His party leads the regional council as well as the chamber of commerce, industry and services of the region. Once elected mayor of Agadir, the politician will implement the city’s development projects, including the ambitious urban development program of Agadir launched by King Mohammed VI.
