Mohammed VI off the coast of Ceuta? Yacht attributed to the king intrigues Spain
A yacht attributed to Mohammed VI was filmed off the coast of Ceuta on Thursday, September 10. Flying the Moroccan flag, the sailboat was sailing in front of several vessels that appeared to be accompanying it.
The images were published by El Faro de Ceuta. The boat was spotted off Al-Madraba, on the coast of Ceuta, forming a veritable procession with the vessels following it.
The Spanish media outlet attributes the sailboat to Mohammed VI or to the Moroccan royal family. Neither Rabat nor the Spanish authorities specified who was on board.

This boat is already known in the region. On September 11, 2025, the same sailboat had been spotted near Benzú, accompanied by two military vessels and another sailboat.
Several maritime appearances by Mohammed VI
In August 2020, Mohammed VI was clearly filmed aboard a vessel in the southern bay of Ceuta, surrounded by members of his escort. Images of the sovereign waving to swimmers then circulated widely in Spain.
A more tense precedent dates back to 2014. A Civil Guard patrol inspected a vessel on which the king was present, triggering a diplomatic incident between Rabat and Madrid.
The reappearance of the sailboat comes this time amid a full-blown crisis surrounding Ceuta, following the 72,000 crossings recorded at the end of July and the new standoff between Morocco and Spain over the city’s sovereignty.

In this context, the presence of this Moroccan yacht and its procession did not go unnoticed. It has revived questions in Spain about the maritime movements of Mohammed VI and the royal family near Ceuta.
