Missing Moroccan Mother Found Dead in Spanish Well After Days-Long Search

The Civil Guard found the lifeless body of Hanane, a 34-year-old Moroccan woman living in Cieza (Murcia), who had been missing since Wednesday.

The body of the missing young woman was found on Saturday in an eight-meter deep well, while her relatives were planning new searches this Sunday to try to find her, according to sources close to the investigation told La Verdad. Mother of a six-year-old girl, Hanane had been missing since Wednesday morning when she had left the family home to go shopping at the market.

Her brother, having realized that she had not gone to pick up her daughter from school, reported her disappearance. According to him, his sister had been threatened via WhatsApp by her ex-partner, also of Moroccan origin, on September 12, the day before her disappearance. He adds that the ex-partner of his sister had already been the subject of a restraining order prohibiting him from communicating with her.

Hanane had been living in Cieza (Murcia) for more than a decade. She had filed several complaints against her ex-partner for alleged mistreatment, the last of which was about five months ago. The victim had obtained a restraining order against the latter, who had moved out of the city.

The ex-partner friend was arrested on Thursday after the threats made against the victim via WhatsApp. He is still in custody at the Civil Guard barracks. He is accused of having violated the restraining order and the ban on communicating with Hanane. He should be brought before the investigating judge of Cieza on Sunday. The judge will decide whether he will be prosecuted for alleged murder.
