Child’s Cry for Help Leads to Arrest in Attempted Murder of Moroccan Woman in Spain

The Civil Guard has arrested in Torrijos (Toledo) a Moroccan accused of having tried to kill his ex-wife in the presence of their 9-year-old son.
"Help, they’re killing my mother." The boy’s call for help, launched from the balcony of the second floor of a building on Trece Rosas Street where he lives with his mother, was heard at the Civil Guard barracks in Torrijos (Toledo), not far away. Quickly, about ten civil guards rushed to the building and intercepted the victim’s ex-husband as he was trying to flee in a car after committing his crime, reports ABC.
During his arrest, the 43-year-old man, apparently drunk, threatened the agents with the hammer with which he had tried to break down the door of the victim’s apartment. Of Moroccan origin, he is accused of gender-based violence and having repeatedly violated the restraining order. The victim says she was afraid "of what could happen to her and the child. He is terrified!" She thanks the civil guards who rushed to her rescue. The defendant was remanded in custody.
