Mentally Ill Man Arrested in Fatal Bridge Stone-Throwing Incident in Tangier

A 34-year-old man, showing signs of mental disorders, was arrested on Wednesday, July 12 by the judicial police of Tangier, according to local authorities. He is suspected of causing the death of a motorist by throwing a large stone from a bridge in broad daylight.
The individual, who has a criminal record in common law cases and has already received psychiatric care on several occasions, was apprehended at the scene of the tragedy.
The victim, a driver who was passing under the bridge at the time of the incident, was seriously injured by the stone. Despite the efforts of the emergency services, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after his arrival at the hospital.
The judicial police of Tangier have opened an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of this crime and the degree of responsibility of the accused. The latter was placed in custody pending the results of the investigation. "The investigation is being conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office," says a security source quoted by the Map.
