The worst was narrowly avoided this Thursday morning in Mehdia, in the province of Kénitra, following a major landslide that blocked traffic.
This landslide occurred on the Mehdia road, at the section connecting the fishing port to the kasbah. It happened just after the road had been delivered after several months of renovation work.
Even though no casualties are to be deplored, the images of the incident circulating on the web are quite eloquent and show that a tragedy was narrowly avoided. The local authorities dispatched teams to the scene to assess the extent of the damage and carry out the necessary work.
