Gas Leak at Tangier Textile Factory Sends 27 Workers to Hospital
About thirty employees of a textile factory were saved in the nick of time. According to witnesses, most of them were female workers who were asphyxiated by butane gas. A tragedy narrowly avoided, more than a year after the death of about twenty workers in a clandestine workshop in Tangier.
The incident occurred this Monday morning in the production unit of a textile factory located in the Al Majd industrial zone in the El Aouama district of Tangier. The 27 workers were rushed to the Tangier regional hospital to receive the necessary care. Most were able to leave the emergency room, but three of the workers were placed under surveillance, explains the medical staff, who point out that their condition is stable.
The investigation opened will allow the local authorities to understand the reasons why this incident occurred.
