26 Dead in Tangier Textile Workshop Electrocution Tragedy, Investigation Launched

26 people were electrocuted to death, on Monday, February 8, in a clandestine textile workshop in Tangier. The police have opened an investigation, under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office, to elucidate the circumstances of this tragedy.
A clandestine textile unit located in the basement of a villa in Hay Alinas, in the El Mers area of Tangier, was flooded by rainwater on Monday morning, according to the local authorities of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region.
The local authorities and the security and civil protection services intervened to rescue ten people who were transferred to the regional hospital to receive the necessary care, while the bodies of 26 others were recovered, it is specified. The search operations continue to rescue any other individuals surrounded.
The police have opened an investigation, under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office, to elucidate the circumstances of this incident and determine the responsibilities.
