Massive Fire Near Tangier Shopping Center Threatens Gas Depot, Prompts Evacuation

The city of Tangier narrowly escaped a real tragedy. On the morning of Monday, September 9, a huge fire broke out in a public space, near the Aswak Assalam shopping center.
According to the Barlamane website, the capital of the North was about to witness a major explosion, were it not for the speed of the Civil Protection elements. A butane gas depot located in the vicinity of the shopping center narrowly escaped the fire.
The incident caused panic among the residents, who rushed to their cars to avoid being hit by the fire.
It ravaged a large part of the green area and therefore required the use of heavy means by the firefighters, who took an hour to bring it under control. Fortunately, the gas tank was not invaded by the flames.
