Nearly 2,500 palm trees and fruit trees reduced to ashes by a fire that broke out on Tuesday, August 10, in an oasis in the Zagora region.
In addition to these 2,500 palm trees and other fruit trees, the first assessment of the tragedy reports another fifteen hectares of palm trees destroyed in the Tamazmout oasis. The Zagora palm grove had already been ravaged by flames in 2020.
The flames of the fire were so gigantic that they spread to vast areas, making it difficult for the services concerned to bring the fire under control.
For now, no one has been able to identify the origin of the fire. The police services are at work to determine the exact circumstances.
