Massive Drug Bust in Western Sahara: Over 1.2 Tons of Cannabis Seized, Two Arrested

The judicial police elements of Laâyoune carried out the seizure of 1.264 tons of cannabis resin, on Monday evening in Boucraa and Gueltat Zemmour. The operation also resulted in the arrest of two individuals who would be members of a criminal network active in international drug trafficking.
The two suspects, one of whom is a repeat offender, are 26 and 30 years old. In a statement, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) indicated that the searches carried out in "Boucraa" made it possible to find two bales of chira with a total weight of 62 kg, while the research and investigations in "Gueltat Zemmour" about 200 kilometers east of Laâyoune, resulted in the seizure of two cars and 39 additional bales of the same drug.
The two suspects were placed in custody pending the conclusion of the investigation, which will determine the various ramifications of this criminal activity and arrest all the people involved in this international drug trafficking.
