Massive Drug Bust: 5 Tons of Hashish Seized at Moroccan Port En Route to Europe

An international transport truck heading for a European port was intercepted this Tuesday morning by the police services at the Port of Tanger-Med with more than 5 tons of hashish on board. The drugs were carefully hidden in the side walls of the vehicle.
The searches carried out by the police services under the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), assisted by sniffer dogs, made it possible to seize this large quantity of cannabis resin (chira), intended for the European market.
The 30-year-old driver, of Moroccan nationality, was arrested and taken into custody by the security services, and made available to the investigation, conducted under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The investigations, carried out by the Prefectural Judicial Police Service of Tangier, will make it possible to determine the origin of the goods, as well as the alleged links of the accused with any international drug trafficking networks.
