Massive Drug Bust in Morocco: 1.7 Tons of Cannabis Seized, 3 Arrested in Zagora

The judicial police brigade of Zagora arrested three individuals and seized about one ton and 691 kilograms of chira. These individuals, suspected of belonging to a drug trafficking network, were taken into custody.
Three suspected drug traffickers arrested, 1.691 tons of cannabis resin seized in Zagora. Apprehended on Thursday morning, they are suspected of belonging to an international drug trafficking network.
During this operation, the police seized a truck used to transport the drugs, a four-wheel-drive vehicle, and an amount of 550,000 dirhams as well as psychotropic substances.
The three individuals were taken into custody for the continuation of the judicial investigation, under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office. This investigation will make it possible to determine the responsibility of each of the three traffickers, but also to uncover any possible accomplices and sponsors, it is explained.
In a press release, the DGSN reports that it was at the entrance to the city of Zagora that the first suspect was apprehended. He was on board a truck with 62 drug packages weighing one ton and 691 kg. As for the other two, they were arrested in Tinfou, a rural commune south of Zagora, where they were supposed to receive the drugs.
