Four Arrested in Morocco for International Drug Trafficking Attempt

Four individuals were arrested in a case of attempted international drug trafficking, on Thursday in Assilah.
It was the local judicial police brigade under the regional security directorate that carried out the arrest of the four suspects, aged between 18 and 54 years old, based on information provided by the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), through a press release, indicates that three of the four individuals arrested work on a coastal fishing boat. The latter were caught in the act of attempting to traffic a cargo of drugs. They had hidden 185 kg of cannabis resin in fuel barrels on board the boat that was about to leave the Assilah fishing port. The 4th person to be arrested after several investigations is suspected of being the owner of the cargo in question.
The investigations are still ongoing to determine the origin and various circuits of the drugs. Meanwhile, the four arrested individuals have been taken into custody for the needs of the investigation, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, pending a decision on their fate.
