Morocco Police Bust International Drug Ring, Arrest 3 Suspects in Guelmim

Elements of the Judicial Police Brigade of the provincial district of Guelmim apprehended this Friday morning three individuals suspected of having links with a criminal network operating in international drug and psychotropic trafficking.
The arrest of the three alleged drug traffickers was made possible thanks to information provided by the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST). According to a press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the Judicial Police Brigade arrested two of the suspects in Guelmim where, following searches carried out inside their homes, a 4x4 vehicle, four geolocation devices (GPS), as well as mobile phones, and a satellite phone were seized.
During the investigation conducted as part of this same case, a third suspect was arrested in Tagant, on a farm, about 35 km from Guelmim towards Agadir, details the DGSN. Searches carried out on the farm made it possible to seize 104 bales of drugs, with a total estimated weight of 2.940 tons of cannabis resin, an inflatable boat, outboard motors and marmite navigation devices, suspected of being used in drug trafficking via maritime routes.
A judicial investigation has been opened and the three suspects are already in custody. Conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, this investigation will make it possible to determine the various involvements in this criminal activity at both the local and international levels, and at the same time incarcerate all the accomplices.
