Moroccan Police Seize Over 9 Tons of Cannabis in Major Drug Bust

On Friday evening and Saturday morning, elements of the judicial police from the Guelmim police district seized a large quantity of cannabis resin.
In total, these two operations carried out with the support of the Royal Gendarmerie, made it possible to seize 9 tons and 177 kilograms of chira arranged in 337 bales hidden in the sand, with a view to transporting them later as part of international drug trafficking operations, indicates a press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
According to the same source, these operations, which were carried out in several localities of the rural commune of "Fask", 25 kilometers south of Assa, follow an investigation previously conducted by the DGSN services, which had made it possible to seize nearly 342 kilograms, on January 17.
An investigation has already been opened by the judicial police brigade of the Guelmim police district, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office. The objective is to identify all the people involved in the activities of this criminal network, as well as any possible complicity at all levels.
