Moroccan Police Seize 3.7 Tons of Cannabis in Major Drug Bust Near Azemmour

A repeat offender was arrested on Sunday by elements of the National Brigade of the Judicial Police (BNPJ). According to information provided by the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), the 37-year-old man would be linked to a criminal network active in the international cannabis resin trafficking.
In a statement, the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN) indicated that the operation was carried out in coordination with the Royal Gendarmerie at the level of the Al Issawi douar in Tnine Chtouka, near Azemmour, on a farm. The searches carried out made it possible to seize 110 bales of chira with a total weight of 3.7 tons, as well as a large inflatable boat and two engines certainly used in the international drug trafficking by sea.
For the moment, the investigators are at work to determine all the ramifications of this case, identify all the people involved in this international drug trafficking network. The person arrested on the farm has been placed in custody, the DGSN points out, specifying that this operation is part of the many others carried out to fight against international drug and psychotropic trafficking networks.
