Moroccan Authorities Seize 57 Packages of Cannabis in Saharan Drug Bust

An international drug trafficking operation was thwarted in Guelmim, leading to the seizure of a significant quantity of cannabis resin.
The operation took place based on precise information provided by the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), reveals La Map.
To thwart this trafficking, the security forces carried out searches in an area of the rural commune of Asrir, 15 km from Guelmim. This operation led to the seizure of a drug shipment including 57 packages of chira, buried in a Saharan area near an uninhabited tent. In addition, a hunting rifle, an all-terrain vehicle, a motorcycle, a white weapon in the form of a saber and two mobile phones were also seized, according to the DGSN in a statement.
The operation is part of the efforts made by the DGSN and DGST services to fight against various criminal activities, mainly international drug and psychotropic trafficking. Research and investigations are ongoing on the ground to apprehend the accomplices linked to this criminal network, the same source said.
