Massage Parlors in Tangier Defy COVID-19 Restrictions, Raising Health Concerns

Care and massage centers operating in Tangier are trampling on the security measures taken by the Ministry of the Interior to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

The multiplication of positive cases of COVID-19 does not seem to worry the owners and employees of massage parlors. Several establishments continue to open their doors to customers, precisely in the neighborhoods of the 4th administrative zone of the city of Tangier. Yet the Ministry of the Interior has asked them not to operate until further notice.

Assabah notes that these are massage parlors that were excluded from the decision to freeze all activities likely to gather a large number of people in confined spaces. As a result, the ban on gatherings in nightclubs, bars and shisha cafes is not being followed. This situation is also explained by the laxity of the local authorities who, instead of hitting hard, indulge in complacency.

Even the commission, composed of members of the security forces and safety teams, which conducted a campaign on Sunday, March 15 to enforce the decision, only targeted the shisha bars that continue to operate. The massage parlors did not receive a visit from this commission.
