Marseille Eyes Mehdi Benatia for Sporting Director Role Amid Club Shake-up

The departure of the sporting director of Olympique de Marseille, Javier Ribalta, is looming. And it is the former Moroccan international, Medhi Benatia, former central defender and former player of Juventus Turin, who could occupy this strategic position.
RMC Sport reports that his name is at the top of a list drawn up by OM president Pablo Longoria.
Faced with the growing tensions between the Phocaean club and its supporters, Benatia’s arrival, who was trained at OM, could bring a certain serenity. Longoria and Benatia had already collaborated between 2016 and 2019. Moreover, the Moroccan’s mastery of several languages would appeal within the Marseille team.
In any case, behind the scenes, things are moving. A recent meeting between Longoria, owner Franck McCourt, and Barry Cohen, chairman of the supervisory board, highlighted the desire to reorganize the club.
