West Ham’s Nayef Aguerd Targeted by Lens and Marseille in Summer Transfer Battle

The Moroccan defender of the English club West Ham Nayef Aguerd is of interest to two clubs who are fighting to recruit him during the summer transfer window.
Towards a battle RC Lens/OM for Nayef Aguerd? In search of new talents for its reinforcement, RC Lens wants to get rid of certain players. This will reduce the club’s wage bill. Thus, the Sang et Or are interested in the Moroccan international Nayef Aguerd, whose adventure at West Ham could soon come to an end due to physical problems and his less convincing performances this season. Arrived in London from Rennes for 30 million pounds sterling in 2022, he had a good first season. He notably contributed to the London club’s victory in the Europa Conference League final. But the second season will be disappointing: he scored two goals and provided one assist in 28 appearances in all competitions.
In addition to RC Lens, Olympique de Marseille also shows interest in the Moroccan defender, and the president of the Phocaean club, Pablo Longoria, would have given free rein to his sporting director, the Moroccan Mehdi Benatia to recruit him, reveals Le 10 Sport. "Regarding the interest that Marseille has in Aguerd, it is really a track of Benatia, even if it has been validated by Longoria. The player is not against the idea of leaving since he has lost his status as an undisputed starter. Now he is more in the rotation, he plays less," explained Hakim Zhouri, a journalist specializing in Moroccan football. The Atlas Lion’s contract with the Hammers runs until 2027.
