Marseille’s Sports Advisor Benatia Dismisses Belmadi for Coaching Role

Olympique de Marseille is looking for a new coach to replace Jean-Louis Gasset. Former Algerian coach Djamel Belmadi, a former club official, is expressing interest, but his profile does not interest the Franco-Moroccan Mehdi Benatia, Marseille’s sports advisor.
A few months after his dismissal, the former coach of the Algerian national team, Djamel Belmadi, is trying to sit on the very unstable Marseille bench at the end of the season, as the days of Jean-Louis Gasset are numbered. The current OM coach should leave the Marseillais at the end of this season in case of qualification or not. But nothing is guaranteed for the former coach of the Fennecs. He is not on the radar of Mehdi Benatia, the sports advisor of the Marseille club, according to Footbal365. The Franco-Moroccan is leaning towards "more resounding" names.
Belmadi, a former OM player (between 1997 and 2003, 90 matches played) is he unwanted in Marseille? He left bad memories with the local supporters. Some remember his outburst when he threw one of his shoes into the stands.
If the Algerian technician has no chance of bouncing back in Marseille, he can offer himself a new adventure in Africa. The former 2019 African champion has been contacted by the Tunisian federation, which wishes him to coach the Carthage Eagles.
