Djamel Belmadi Poised to Take Over as Al-Duhail Coach, Replacing Galtier

Djamel Belmadi will probably be the next coach of Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech. The former coach of the Algerian national team is reportedly about to relaunch his career in Qatar, more specifically with Al-Duhail from next season.
After declining several offers, particularly from the Gulf, will Djamel Belmadi finally join a Qatari club? In a post on his X account, Santi Aouna, a French journalist specializing in transfers, reveals that he would succeed Christophe Galtier, the current club coach, who is expected to take over as head of the Qatar national team. Moreover, discussions between Galtier and the Qatari Federation are well advanced, he assures. For its part, Al-Duhail has reportedly already initiated the succession by contacting the Algerian coach.
If the information is confirmed, Belmadi will return to Qatar where he built a large part of his coaching career before experiencing success with the Fennecs, notably during the 2019 AFCON triumph. Since then, the stars have refused to align for the Algerian coach. With the Algerian team, he experienced several failures including elimination in the playoffs for the 2022 World Cup and two consecutive eliminations in the first round of AFCON. These failures will lead to his departure from the Algerian national team in January 2024.
