Marrakech Restaurants Closed After Sexual Assault on French Tourist in Jemaa El-Fna Square

A sexual assault on a young French tourist led to the closure of two restaurants on the mythical Jemaa El-Fna square in Marrakech. The perpetrator, despite his connections in the tourism industry, was placed in custody for the purposes of the investigation.
The young aggressor’s position did not prevent him from suffering the rigors of the law. The Assistant to the President of the Association of Restaurant Owners of Jemaa El-Fna sexually harassed a French minor sitting at a table with her parents, during dinner.
Following the complaint filed by the young girl and her parents, the young man was placed in custody for the purposes of the investigation. This act immediately caused an uproar throughout the city.
The reaction of the local authorities of Marrakech did not wait. They ordered the closure of two restaurants on the square, welcoming tourists to the ochre city, pending the results of the investigation.
