Marrakech Parking Scam: Unlicensed Attendants Extort Tourists and Locals
Marrakechis and tourists can no longer stand the law of the parking attendants. They call on the local authorities to find a viable solution to this problem.
Parking attendants continue to sow disorder in certain neighborhoods of Marrakech such as Hivernage and the surroundings of Jemaa el-Fna square. The phenomenon is more striking at night when these individuals, who have no license to carry out such an activity, demand prohibitive rates from vehicle owners.
According to Marrakechis interviewed by Kech24, these attendants demand up to 80 dirhams and more from them. The citizens of the ochre city denounce this unnamed scam and call on the local authorities to take firm measures to put an end to this practice, which is spreading in the city and throughout Morocco.
