Marrakech Residents Demand Crackdown on Illegal Parking Racket

Parking attendants continue to sow chaos in the city of Marrakech, demanding high amounts from motorists and visitors to the ochre city.
These illegal practices of the "yellow vests" are causing outrage and anger among the people of Marrakech and tourists who are forced to pay exorbitant amounts to park their vehicles in unauthorized places, on the streets and alleys of certain strategic neighborhoods of the city.
Associative actors have called on the local authorities to take urgent and firm measures to put an end to this disorder, urging them to strengthen controls and impose criminal sanctions against illegal car attendants. They also stressed the need to organize this sector by setting up a sufficient number of public car parks, in the perspective of the 2025 CAN Morocco and the 2030 World Cup.
These actors also invited the local authorities to strengthen and modernize the transport infrastructure of the ochre city in order to ensure the fluidity of traffic during these sporting events.
