Marrakech Named Among World’s Top 20 Food Destinations by Time Out

According to a ranking by a British magazine, a Moroccan city is among the top 20 cities in the world where gastronomy is the best.
Marrakech ranks 15th in the ranking of the 20 best cities in the world where gastronomy is the best, established by Time Out. "Eating in Marrakech is a delight for the senses," assures the British magazine. In this city, you can find cafes "where the sweet Moroccan mint tea is poured from a height into fist-sized glasses"; vendors competing to sell freshly squeezed orange juice and grilled meat skewers on the bustling central square of Jemaa el-Fna; and "roasted lamb mechoui and fragrant tagine in the sumptuous courtyards". According to Time Out’s explanations, the must-have dish in Marrakech is the tagine. And to add: "There has never been a better time to make the trip to the food capital of North Africa."
Naples tops the ranking. This Italian city is considered the birthplace of pizza. The South African city of Johannesburg ranks second. It is followed by Lima (Peru) and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Beijing (China) is in sixth place. Bangkok (Thailand), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Mumbai (India), Dubai (United Arab Emirates) and Portland (United States) follow. Liverpool (United Kingdom) takes 11th place, while Medellín (Colombia) is in 12th place. They are followed by Seville (Spain) and Porto (Portugal). Lyon (France) is in 16th place. Sydney (Australia) and Montreal (Canada) follow. Osaka (Japan) and Copenhagen (Denmark) close the podium.
To establish its ranking, Time Out surveyed thousands of city dwellers around the world about dining options in their city. The editors then sifted through the results. Finally, they included the highest-rated city from each country in the resulting list.
