Marrakech Climbs to 11th in Global Food Destination Rankings

According to the ranking of a British magazine, a Moroccan city is among the cities where you eat the best in the world in 2025.
Marrakech ranks 11th in the ranking of the 20 best cities in the world for gastronomy, established by the British magazine Time Out, thus gaining four places compared to the 2024 top. The cuisine of Marrakech is recognized for its aromas, flavors and colors. Any visitor can enjoy tagines, couscous, tanjia, briouates, pastilla, but also and above all the famous pastries and the unequaled mint tea.
New Orleans (United States) tops the ranking. It owes its place to its cuisine rich in international influences and its timeless classics like gumbo and beignets. This American city is followed by Bangkok (Thailand), Medellín (Colombia) and Cape Town (South Africa). Madrid (Spain) completes the top 5. Mexico City (Mexico) takes 6th place, while Lagos (Nigeria) occupies 7th place.
The Nigerian city is followed by Shanghai (China), Paris (France) and Jakarta (Indonesia). Lima (Peru) is 12th in this ranking. They are followed by Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Mumbai (India), Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) and Cairo (Egypt). They are followed by Porto (Portugal), Montreal (Canada) and Naples (Italy). San José (Costa Rica) closes the podium.
To establish its ranking, Time Out conducted a survey of thousands of residents of major cities around the world as well as the magazine’s editors, who were asked to evaluate their local culinary scene according to 18 different criteria including quality and accessibility ranging from "family" to "experimental".
