Marrakech’s La Mamounia Restaurant Wins Prestigious 2021 Prix Versailles Award
Another distinction for the Mamounia palace in Marrakech. Its restaurant has just received the 2021 Prix Versailles Africa and West Asia Award.
La Mamounia keeps collecting awards. Last September, the palace had received the Ahead Award in Dubai. This time it is the hotel’s restaurant that is being awarded an equally prestigious prize. "The Continental Committee and the Secretariat (of the Versailles Prize) have deliberated and decided to award the 2021 Versailles Africa and West Asia Prize (Restaurant category) to La Mamounia (Marrakech, Morocco)," says a press release sent to MAP.
The global architecture and design award (Versailles Prize) rewards the most remarkable achievements in terms of architecture, interior and exterior, in six regions of the world: Africa and West Asia, Central, South America and the Caribbean, North America, Central and Northeast Asia, South Asia and the Pacific, and Europe.
This year, 70 winners were selected for the 2021 edition. These are 18 stores, 16 shopping malls, 18 hotels and 18 restaurants awarded. Innovation, creativity, echo to local heritage, natural and cultural, environmental performance, as well as the values of conviviality and participation to which the United Nations is committed, are among the selection criteria.
In 2020, the Versailles Prize for the most beautiful restaurant in the world was awarded to the Palais Ronsard in Marrakech. The names of the global winners will be revealed on December 15, 2021 during the official announcement of the Versailles Prize.
