Marrakech is more expensive than London and Paris, but tourists are still searching for it
With an average hotel rate of 188 euros per night, Marrakech is more expensive than London, Paris, Barcelona or Amsterdam. Yet the Moroccan city remains among the top 10 most-searched destinations for holidays with five or more people.
Marrakech ranks eighth among the most-searched hotel destinations for groups in 2026. The city appears in the ranking with an average rate of 188 euros per night, according to Kayak data published this Sunday by Euronews.

Of the ten cities ranked, only New York has a higher price, at 307 euros. A night in a hotel costs an average of 181 euros in London, 176 euros in Barcelona, 165 euros in Amsterdam, 144 euros in Paris and 143 euros in Rome. Madrid comes in at 124 euros, Berlin at 115 euros and Marseille at 100 euros.
Marrakech’s position is all the more notable because it sits alongside Europe’s leading tourist capitals. London tops the searches, ahead of Paris, Barcelona, Madrid, Rome and Amsterdam. Marseille comes immediately before Marrakech, while New York and Berlin round out the ranking.
The figures cover hotel and rental searches made on Kayak between March and September 2026. Only planned stays involving at least five travelers were included, for arrivals scheduled between July and December. They therefore measure the interest expressed by groups as they plan their holidays.
Rentals place Marrakech even higher
High hotel rates do not prevent Marrakech from remaining attractive to large families and groups of friends. The city benefits in particular from a wide range of riads, villas and large accommodations, making it possible to split the cost among several travelers.
This position extends the strong demand already seen among French travelers. In the spring, Marrakech had overtaken New York, Rome and London in their searches for trips abroad.
The holiday rental ranking further confirms this appeal. With an average rate of 101 euros per night, Marrakech climbs this time to fourth place, behind Paris, Marseille and London.
