Marrakech Tops French Easter Travel Searches, Kayak Reports Surge

The city of Marrakech will be the preferred destination of the French during the Easter holidays this year, according to the travel search engine Kayak.
Marrakech tops the list of the most sought-after destinations by the French for the Easter holidays. Searches for the ochre city have increased by 86% compared to last year, according to the travel search engine Kayak. The Moroccan city is followed by Rome (+47%), Lisbon (+67%) and Barcelona (+101%). The Spanish city of Palma de Mallorca recorded a 283% increase in searches, the highest among the 10 most sought-after destinations.
"The popularity of destinations like Marrakech and Palma de Mallorca reflects a growing trend towards places that offer everything we are looking for at this time of year: a pleasant climate, a variety of activities, as well as cultural and culinary discoveries," explains Eva Fouquet, senior vice president of Kayak. The French are also interested in Spanish cities like Seville (+102%) and Madrid (+46%).
According to Kayak data, flight prices will rise by an average of 60% compared to last year, with notable peaks for destinations like Marrakech (+178%), Lisbon (+82%) and New York (+189%). This rise in prices will not dampen the French’s desire to travel during the Easter holidays, with searches for the Easter holidays having almost doubled (90%) compared to the previous year.
