Marrakech Tops Budget-Friendly Destinations for French Travelers Under €500

A Moroccan city tops the ranking of the ten favorite destinations for French travelers with a budget of less than 500 euros per person.

Marrakech tops the list of the top 10 destinations accessible from France with a budget not exceeding 500 euros per person, established by the search engine kayak.fr. The ochre city is also the most expensive in the ranking. It is accessible between 380 and 444 euros depending on the period and regardless of the departure city. The red city is also the only destination outside the Old Continent appearing on the list.

Lisbon (Portugal) is the second favorite destination for the French, accessible between 247 to 298 euros. It is followed by Barcelona, which completes the top 3 with prices ranging from 179 to 252 euros. Rome (Italy) takes fourth place. It is accessible between 228 and 281 euros. To get to London, the fifth most requested foreign city, you need to count 147 to 219 euros. Next come the Portuguese city of Porto and the Spanish city of Madrid, accessible respectively with 219 to 258 euros and 228 to 250 euros.

Palma de Mallorca (Spain) occupies the eighth place in the ranking and is accessible between 218 and 289 euros. Seville (Spain) takes 9th place. Accessible between 295 and 365 euros (9th in order of preference), it is the second most expensive destination after Marrakech. Milan (Italy) closes the podium and requires a budget of 149 to 179 euros.

This ranking was carried out after an Ipsos survey for Kayak. Nearly half of the French (49%) have taken days off to travel during the weekends of May, or plan to do so soon, reports Capital. Only 12% of respondents have an amount of more than 500 euros for their stay, taking into account accommodation and transport. The vast majority prefer to stay in France. 41% of respondents have therefore opted for French destinations, less expensive, such as Nice, Marseille or Paris.
