Moroccan Coastal Gem Essaouira Ranks Among Top Retirement Destinations for French Expats

A Moroccan city appears in the ranking of the 10 best cities to settle in to fully enjoy retirement, especially for the French.
Essaouira ranks sixth in the top 10 best cities to expatriate for retirement, established by the website retraitesansfrontieres.fr. This Moroccan city stands out for its narrow streets, white houses with blue shutters, fishing port, and ancient fortifications... "This city on the Moroccan coast also offers all daily services without the hassles of big cities, traffic jams and air pollution being foremost. To top it all off, you’ll enjoy a long fine sandy beach and a relatively temperate climate," advises Paul Delahoutre, the founder of Retraite sans Frontières.
Cascais (Portugal) tops the ranking. It is followed by Begur (Spain) and Paros (Greece). Ao Nang (Thailand) takes fourth place. Trou aux biches (Mauritius) takes fifth place, while Houmt Souk (Tunisia) occupies seventh place. Then come Saint-Louis (Senegal) and Ubud (Bali - Indonesia). Boca Chica (Dominican Republic) completes the top 10.
To establish its ranking, the site took into account the assets offered by all members of the ranking of best countries to expatriate for retirement that it had previously made. These include fine sandy beaches, sunshine, new culture and gastronomy to discover, shopping centers...
