Marrakech undefeated in 2025, but a danger looms for 2026

The year 2025 confirmed the unconditional love of the French for Morocco. With an average round-trip ticket priced at 277 euros (down 2% year-on-year), Marrakech dominates the ranking established by the Liligo comparator. This success is part of a stabilized market where the average price of flights has generally fallen by 3% to 419 euros. Behind the Moroccan leader, Tunisia is making a remarkable breakthrough: absent from the top 10 last year, Tunis has directly risen to second place, overtaking Porto.

While the 2025 balance sheet is excellent, the year 2026 promises to be more competitive, reminds Air Journal. Travel intentions for next year show a strong resurgence of interest in long-haul travel. Bangkok takes the lead in searches, while Marrakech temporarily slides to fifth place. This decline is partly explained by booking habits: distant trips like Thailand, Japan or the United States are planned months in advance, while stays in Morocco, closer and less expensive, are often decided at the last minute.

Competition is also intensifying with North America. New York is making a spectacular entry into the top 10 searches for 2026, boosted by the organization of the World Cup and the first match of the French national team scheduled there in June. At the same time, for small budgets, Europe remains the preferred hunting ground with destinations like Nice, Marseille or Milan accessible for less than 140 euros, capturing a significant share of short stays.
