It all started with complaints received by the Marrakech Prefecture of Security about a clinic engaged in the practice of illegal abortion, according to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN). It ordered an investigation into these possible crimes after the opinion of the competent public prosecutor’s office.
Thanks to the security intervention of the police elements, a 77-year-old doctor, owner of the clinic, 4 nurses and 2 women who had previously undergone clandestine abortion surgery within the same establishment were arrested. According to the DGSN, the elements of the judicial police department, a minor and a pregnant woman who were carrying out analyzes in order to undergo a similar abortion were also arrested. The minor’s boyfriend and a relative were also arrested.
All these defendants were placed in custody for the purposes of the investigation, except for the minor, who was placed under police control. As for the two former patients, they were subjected to the preliminary investigation ordered by the competent public prosecutor’s office in order to elucidate the ins and outs of this case and determine the circumstances surrounding these criminal acts.
