Marrakech Bribery Sting: Police Arrest Political Official
A vice-president of the Ménara district was arrested Thursday afternoon in Marrakech for suspected corruption. In charge of urban planning, he was allegedly caught by the judicial police while receiving a bribe of 150 000 dirhams.
Judicial police investigators acted following an alert submitted through the anti-corruption hotline. The report made it possible to set up a sting operation targeting the elected official from the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), Achkayen reports. The arrest took place precisely when the money was handed over, confirming the act was caught in the process.

At the time of his arrest, the suspect was not alone; two other municipal councillors were accompanying him. While the main suspect is now in the hands of the justice system, the investigation will have to determine whether this practice is part of a broader system and clarify the exact role of the other people present during the operation.
