Senior Police Officer Caught Red-Handed in Bribery Sting Operation in Meknes

A senior police officer was arrested in Meknes on Monday, September 8, suspected of having solicited money in the exercise of his duties. According to the judicial police, he was apprehended in the act while attempting to receive a bribe.
The operation was launched by the regional brigade of the judicial police following a complaint filed by the victim. According to the initial findings of the investigation, the civil servant is suspected of having "exerted pressure on a party involved in criminal proceedings" in order to obtain a sum of money.
On the instructions of the competent public prosecutor’s office, the officer in question was taken into custody. This measure aims to "determine all the circumstances and motives of this case," said the judicial police. At the same time, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) announced his "provisional suspension" from his duties.
The investigation continues under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office. At the end of the judicial procedure, the police officer also faces the "disciplinary sanctions provided for by the status of police officers."
