Fez City Official Arrested in 15,000 Dirham Bribery Sting Operation

An elected member of the Jnane El Ouard district council in Fez was arrested on Tuesday, caught in the act of corruption, while receiving a sum of 15,000 dirhams.
This vice-president in charge of urban planning, who is also a member of the Fez Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services (CCIS), was apprehended following an operation carried out by the regional brigade of the judicial police, according to the newspaper Al Akhbar.
The newspaper reports that a local entrepreneur had previously filed a complaint, accusing this councilor from the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) of asking him for this sum in exchange for a building permit. A meeting had then been organized to trap the elected official, during which he was caught accepting bills whose serial numbers were known to the police.
Following his arrest, the councilor was taken into custody for the needs of the investigation. The man is no stranger to justice. He has just been sentenced to 5 years in prison for a case of rape of a minor.
