Marrakech Airport Sees 16% Surge in Passenger Traffic, Ranks 2nd in Morocco

The Marrakech-Ménara International Airport is positioning itself in terms of passenger traffic. For this year, it shows a 16% increase in air traffic compared to last year.
The Marrakech Airport stood out in May 2019. According to ONDA, the Ochre City Airport benefited from the trust of 491,472 passengers this year, compared to 423,241 travelers in May 2018. Indeed, this airport received 30% of commercial air traffic during the month of May, and occupies the 2nd place, just behind the Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca (37.46%).
Moreover, during the entire month of May, aircraft movements at the Airport reached 23.80%, out of the 14,952 aircraft movements recorded nationwide. In the lead is the Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca, with 42.30%.
As for the main air routes, nationally, the 2nd place went to the Marrakech-Paris-Orly line, in the top 5 air links, for 35,545 passengers. The Marrakech-Madrid and Marrakech-London-Gatwick lines, for their part, line up in 4th and 5th place with 31,612 and 29,604 passengers respectively, the Office specifies.
Despite all these efforts, a traffic volume of 1,624,451 passengers, i.e. a decrease of 3.41% is attributed to the airports of Morocco, compared to the previous year. This decline would be attributable to the Ramadan period.
