Viral Video: Moroccan Street Vendor Wows Tourist with Fluent English in Marrakech Market
A video showing a Moroccan saleswoman impressing a tourist with her English skills in Marrakech has gone viral on social media.
In this video, we see the Moroccan saleswoman speaking English confidently to answer the tourist’s questions about Moroccan "msemmen", also known as "rghaif", a thin flour and semolina pancake in a square shape. Also the stuffed msemmen which are also known as Moroccan pizza. "It’s a Moroccan pizza. [It contains] onions, tomatoes, paprika and [inaudible]... delicious," the Moroccan saleswoman told the tourist.
The video went viral after being posted online. Many internet users have applauded the saleswoman, praising her confidence and command of the English language in a country where the official languages are Moroccan Arabic (darija) and Tamazight. French is also one of the languages spoken in the kingdom.
