Man Attempts Self-Immolation After Traffic Fine in Casablanca

A young man attempted to self-immolate after a traffic check in Casablanca. An investigation has been opened.
The 25-year-old man set fire to his upper limbs while near a traffic control point in Casablanca, in Ain Sebaâ-Hay Mohammedi, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
According to the initial findings of the investigation, the person was arrested and fined by the police after committing a traffic violation related to not wearing a protective helmet while driving a three-wheeled motorcycle. Immediately afterwards, the young man used a highly flammable liquid "to intentionally inflict burns on himself."
The young man was taken to a local hospital and placed under medical supervision. A judicial investigation has been opened under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, in order to determine the circumstances of this case.
