Deadly Counterfeit Alcohol Claims 9 Lives in Morocco; Suspect Arrested

The police services of the city of Ksar El Kébir have arrested this Tuesday, September 27, a man with a criminal record, for his alleged involvement in the sale of counterfeit alcohol that caused the death of nine of his customers and the poisoning of several other people.
In a press release, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) indicates that the investigation opened following this tragedy resulted in the arrest of a 48-year-old man and his minor son suspected of having participated in these criminal acts. During the search of the quinquagenarian’s store, the investigators seized 49 liters of contraband alcohol.
Pending the determination of the link between the recorded deaths and the consumption of alcohol, which is currently the subject of a scientific and technical expertise, the two suspects are the subject of a judicial investigation under the control of the competent Public Prosecutor’s Office.
