Moroccan Man, 22, Dies After Self-Immolation Near Police Station; Investigation Underway

The judicial police of Béni Mellal opened an investigation on Monday morning into the circumstances in which a 22-year-old died after self-immolation.
According to the initial findings of the investigation, the victim sprayed himself with a flammable substance before self-immolating near the police headquarters. The investigators continue to conduct the investigations to determine the reasons why he committed this act and what his medical and judicial history is, according to the statement of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
The 22-year-old man was transferred to the University Hospital Center of Casablanca to receive the necessary care, but he did not survive his burns. Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding this case, concludes the DGSN.
