Man Arrested for Spreading False COVID-19 Child Death Claim on Facebook

The prefectural judicial police service of the city of Marrakech referred, on Wednesday, April 8, to the competent prosecutor’s office, a 33-year-old individual. He is suspected of having disseminated false information about the alleged death of a child suffering from the new coronavirus (covid-19).
The police services had spotted a photo posted on a Facebook page accompanied by false information reporting the death of a child in the hospital following the coronavirus, indicates the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) in a press release.
The research and investigations carried out as part of this case made it possible to identify and arrest the suspect, specifies the DGSN.
After being taken into custody, the accused was referred on Wednesday to the justice system, at the end of the preliminary investigation procedures.
