Man Arrested in Morocco for Threatening Police Officer with Dog, Sparking Social Media Outrage
An individual is the subject of an investigation opened by the Judicial Police Brigade of Dakhla, for having deliberately endangered the life of a police officer, under the threat of a dog. The filmed scene was widely shared on instant messaging applications and social networks.
In a statement, the General Directorate of National Security reported that "the police officer victim of this threat was heard immediately after the recording on Friday of these criminal acts." The same was done for eyewitnesses, pending the suspect, "the son of a police officer, being brought before the justice once the investigation is completed."
The Laâyoune police prefecture insists that, given the seriousness of the act committed, "the accused will be brought before the courts in accordance with the law and that the preliminary investigation concerns any possible accomplices." It also reaffirmed "its concern to protect its officials against all verbal or physical attacks they may be victims of in the exercise of their duties," according to the MAP.
